Advanced Protection For International Students College
The new system, which was designed and installed by ERIF UK, represented a major upgrade of the fire protection for the college and covers the whole site including function rooms, study areas, libraries and the student accommodation. Four Mx-4404 multi-loop control panels and a repeater panel are inter-connected via Ad-NeT+, Advanced's fault tolerant network and interfaced to over 1,200 Apollo fire detectors and devices.
The extensive cause and effect features of the Mx-4404 panels are used to provide a block by block phased evacuation of the building and activation of door holders and plant shutdown in the event of a fire. The status of any of the 1200+ devices is available to all of the panels, allowing any of them to act as a master for the whole system.
Advanced's Mx-4000 panels were chosen for this project because of their excellent networking capabilities and programming features", commented Denis Kelly, Marketing Manager at ERIF UK. "We also know from experience that the panels have field-proven reliability and the company provides excellent customer and technical support."
The Ad-NeT+ network is capable of withstanding a single fault between nodes without loss of communications to any single panel. Up to 200 panels (nodes) can be connected on the network with a total loop length of 20Km, using standard two-core fire resistant cable.
Advanced Electronics Ltd manufactures a comprehensive range of intelligent control and indicating panels, software and peripherals for fire detection, smoke control and the emergency lighting market. The EN54 approved Mx-4000 series and the UL 864 approved Ax-Series fire systems offer enhanced features for the end-user, system designer and installer. Advanced also manufacture the LifeLine family of DDA-compliant fire safety products for the deaf and hearing impaired.
