WEDNESDAY 14 MAY
West Wickham - rubbish blaze
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a rubbish fire which spread to nearby buildings on Glebe Way in West Wickham yesterday afternoon. The fire damaged part of the ground floor of the warehouse and the smoke spread to the flats above. Three people were led to safety from the first floor by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus.
The fire also spread to an adjacent house damaging a small amount of the ground floor.
The Brigade was called at 1610 and the fire was under control by 1745. Firefighters from Beckenham, Addington, Bromley and Forest Hill fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
MONDAY 12 MAY
Barking - flat fire
Fire crews were called to a blaze at a flat on Dovehouse Mead in Barking last night. The fire started in the living room and is believe to have been caused by a candle setting alight curtains.
A man was rescued via an internal staircase by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 2132 and the fire was under control by 2205. Fire crews from Barking, East Ham and Plaistow fire stations attended the incident.
SATURDAY 10 MAY
Romford - fatal fire
A woman has died following a fire in a house on Bower Close in Romford.
Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Romford tackled the blaze, which damaged part of the first floor of the house.
The Brigade was called at 0048 and the fire was under control by 0117. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Barking - house blaze
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Waverley Gardens in Barking this afternoon. Half of the roof was damaged by the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 1432 and the fire was under control by 1724. Fire crews from Barking, East Ham, Plaistow, Silvertown and Leytonstone fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Peckham - railway arch fire
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a blaze at a railway arch on Consort Road in Peckham this morning. The fire severely damaged the railway arch.
The Brigade was called at 1118 and the fire was under control by 1218. Fire crews from Peckham and Old Kent Road fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
FRIDAY 9 MAY
Blackheath - house fire
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a blaze at a house on Charlton Park Lane in Blackheath this afternoon. The whole of the loft conversion was destroyed by the blaze. The fire spread and damaged half of the roof.
The Brigade was called at 1307 and the fire was under control by 1459. Fire crews from East Greenwich, Woolwich, Greenwich. Lee Green and Peckham fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Forest Hill - house blaze
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Duncomb Hill in Forest Hill last night. Half of the ground floor was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 1904 and the fire was under control by 1930. Fire crews from Forest Hill, Lewisham, New Cross and Greenwich fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Cubitt
Town - disused house fire
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a blaze at a disused house on Glengall Grove, Cubitt Town in the early hours of this morning. The whole of the first floor and the roof was completely destroyed by the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 0218 and the fire was under control by 0457. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall and Plaistow fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire officers and police.
THURSDAY 8 MAY
South Harrow - collapsed houses
The London Fire Brigade was called to an incident on Stanley Road, South Harrow following reports of a gas explosion yesterday evening. Two residential properties on the road collapsed. Two people were taken to hospital and following a search of the premises the body of a man was discovered.
At the height of the incident six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were at the scene. Throughout today fire crews worked with contractors to stabilise the structure before the Brigade's Urban Search and Rescue Teams removed the body from the rubble at 2105 this evening. The cause of the explosion is being investigated by the Brigade and the police. The Brigade was called at 2138 on Wednesday.
WEDNESDAY 7 MAY
Erith - house fire
Fire crews were called to a blaze at a house on Ramsden Road in Erith this morning. Part of the ground floor was damaged by the fire and firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to surrounding parts of the property.
Watch Manager Stewart Button said; "The whole house was filled with thick black smoke and there was no smoke alarm in the building. An older woman was woken by the smoke and made her way to the front door but had trouble opening it. Fortunately a passerby assisted her to safety".
The older woman was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Watch Manager Button added; "This incident highlights how important it is to have a working smoke alarm. It gives an early warning and provides valuable seconds to get out and call the fire brigade. Local firefighters will visit your home, chat to you about how you can prevent fires, and fit free smoke alarms if you need them. Call 08000 28 44 28 to set up a visit."
Mitcham - house blaze
Fire crews were called to a fire at a house on Hengelo Gardens in Mitcham this morning. Part of the ground floor was damaged by flat and there was heavy smoke throughout the building.
An older woman was led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. She was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 1021 and the fire was under control by 1050. Fire crews from Mitham and Sutton fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Mill Hill - house fire
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters tackled a blaze in a house on Longfield Avenue, Mill Hill, yesterday evening.
The fire, which damaged part of a converted loft in the two storey house, is believed to have started by the careless disposal of smoking materials. Teddington - boat fire
Firefighters were called to fire on a boat at Trowlock Island on the River Thames in Teddington yesterday afternoon. There was a small explosion on the moored boat believed to have been caused by a petrol leak. Part of the twenty two foot vessel was damaged by fire.
A man and a woman were suffering from burns and were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 1542 and the fire was under control by 1652. Fire crews from Twickenham and Kingston fire station attended the incident.
SUNDAY 4 MAY
Soho -
fire in shop and flats
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a blaze in a shop and flats on Lisle Street early this morning.
The blaze destroyed the second floor of the four floor building and part of the third floor.
The Brigade was called at 0510 and the fire was under control by 0622. Fire crews from Soho, Clerkenwell, Euston, Silvertown, Westminster and Knightsbridge attended the incident. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Hammersmith - house fire
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a blaze at a house on Glenthorne Road in Hammersmith this afternoon. Half of the second floor and part of the roof was damaged by the blaze.
Three people left the building before the Brigade arrived. They were all suffering from smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 1213 and the fire was under control by 1250. Fire crews from Hammersmith, Fulham and Kensington fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Westminster

Fire crews were called to a fire in a basement flat on Cambridge Street in Westminster this evening. The fire damaged a small amount of the property but there was heavy smoke throughout the building.

Marylebone - flat fire
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a blaze at a house converted into flats on Bryanston Street in Marylebone last night. Part of the first floor was damaged by the blaze and there was heavy smoke throughout the building.
The Brigade was called at 1908 and the fire was under control by 2014. Fire crews from Soho, Paddington and Clerkenwell fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Ealing - pub blaze
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire at a pub on Popes Lane in Ealing yesterday afternoon. Part of the roof was damaged by the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 1728 and the fire was under control by 2105. Fire crews from Ealing, Acton and Chiswick fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
THURSDAY 1 MAY
Lewisham - house blaze
Fire crews were called to fire at a house on Sandrock Road in Lewisham last night. The fire started in the living room and firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to surrounding rooms. There was severe smoke damage to the whole of the building.
Two adults and a child left the property before the Brigade arrived. A man was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 2021 and the fire is under control by 2052. Firefighters from Greenwich, Lee Green and Deptford fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
WEDNESDAY 30 APRIL
Holloway - block of flats fire
Fire crews were called to a blaze at flats above a shop on Holloway Road, Holloway in the early hours of this morning. Half of the staircase from the ground to the third floor was damaged by the blaze and there was heavy smoke logging throughout the building.
A man was rescued from the second floor by firefighters using an external ladder. A further man and a woman were led to safety via an internal staircase by crews wearing breathing apparatus. They were all suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service.
