Notifier by Honeywell launched 'Smart4' during the show, a sensor which reflects human senses in providing multi-criteria fire protection minimising false alarms.
Smart4 stands for 'Self-optimising Multi-criteria Alarm Recognition Technology, and represents a step forward in intelligent fire detection.
Smart4 is a plug in detector which combines 4 separate sensing elements to act as a single unit. These include CO sensing, infrared sensing, optical smoke and heat detection.
The multi criteria device can detect different kinds of fire faster; it is configured so it normally operates at a high immunity level, instantly changing to become very sensitive to fires as soon as characteristics are sensed.
The results are transient nuisances being monitored and ignored minimising the false alarm.
Seeing products and services in action is one of the main benefits to the show, live demonstrations were held at the emergency action zone located behind Hall 9.
Among the demonstrations were current techniques for fire fighting scenarios, breathing and thermal imaging equipment and Thermoman, a mannequin with 122 heat sensors able to test fire resistant clothing.
Leading manufacturer Nittan, joined the fight to prevent false alarms and launched the Evolution EVC-DP dual optical detector. This alarm is designed to reduce false alarms caused by non-combustion products such as steam, dust and aerosols.
The alarm works by measuring the particle size in the chamber via its combined IR and blue LED technology, as steam and dust are larger particles than smoke the detector wont false alarm.
