New chairman for British Fire Consortium
The British Fire Consortium have announced their new Chairman Tom Brookes, after the sudden departure of Roger Chamberlin in October. The British Fire Consortium is the 2nd largest fire trade association representing over 250 SME fire extinguisher and fire alarm companies.
Tom the Managing Director of BAFE approved & Kitemark holder Lindum Fire Services Ltd, takes up the position after a 25-year career in the fire industry that has seen him serve as a technical committee member on no less than 7 British Standard Institute committees, recently on the committee re-writing BS5839-1.
Tom is the Current Vice Chairman for the FSA (Fire and Security Association) working alongside Industry heavy weights Pat Allen of Able Alarms & Steve Martin Head of Specialist Groups for the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA)
Also, a member of The FIA’s WG5 committee as well as being a technical advisor for the City & Guilds 1853-03 NVQ, so brings vast amounts of expertise and industry knowledge to the BFC.
Graham Newman, President of the BFC and BAFE Director, said: “Tom’s extensive industry experience and technical expertise will be a huge benefit to the BFC, our members and the industry we support. Tom joined the BFC in 2004 and served on Council from 2008, before being unanimously elected to be the new chairman in October. Tom’s main area of interest is the alarm and emergency lighting and he is without doubt one of the most knowledgeable practitioners of this sector of our industry, in the country”

This new roll will put Tom in a strong industry influencing position, representing over 450 fire and security companies at the highest levels.
