The O-I glass plant in Schiedam, the Netherlands, was established more than 150 years ago to meet the enormous demand for glass bottles from the hundreds of distilleries based in the area. Today the plant remains a major glass packaging producer in the Netherlands and is part of O-I, the world largest glass container manufacturer.

At the heart of a recent upgrading of the fire detection and alarm system at the O-I glass plant are 4 Kentec analogue addressable fire alarm panels, 1 Kentec Syncro 2 loop and 3 Kentec Syncro AS Light (1 loop) alarm panels, chosen for their exceptional performance, reliability and seamless integration to systems of mixed devices. The system is supported by Hochiki's open protocol fire data communications with over 182 Hochiki devices that include Automatic Smoke/Heat Sensors, Call Points, Wall Sounders and mains Interface I/O Modules.

The fire detection and alarm system upgrade was a joint project between supplier, designer and commissioning engineers Fireproducts & Solution Netherlands and installer J.J. Hendriks & zn. - both leading consulting engineers.
