Fire Forum On The Way

Firemen from around the world will discuss the latest technologies and developments in the field at a five-day conference to be held in Bahrain next year.
The Fire Department Instructors' Conference (FDIC) is being held for the first time in the region, from May 6 to 10, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
World leaders in fire training, including former United Nations fire chief Robert Triozzi, who is also leader of the Rome-based Fire Rescue Development Programme, and New York Fire Department veteran John O'Connell will provide expert advice at the event.
Fire chiefs and other senior fire department personnel from Germany, the UK, South Africa and Japan, as well as leading experts from the Middle East, will offer training experience.
A comprehensive selection of Hands-On-Training (HOT) modules will give a series of real-life experiences for conference attendees at carefully selected sites throughout Manama.
It is anticipated that the HOT sessions will include courses on structural collapse, urban search and rescue, high-rise fires, oil pipeline blow and vehicle extrication among other topics.
A special symposium dedicated to safe construction of high-rise buildings and the best practice in building management in order to prevent or successfully deal with the threat of fire will also be held on May 9.
FDIC Bahrain is primarily aimed at firemen, but will also be of interest to building construction and management sectors.
The conference is supported by Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Civil Defence Bahrain General Directorate General Abdul Latif Al Zayani.
Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (Asry) and Bapco will also support the event by lending expert staff and training facilities.
A growing roster of technical firefighting innovators supplying the industry are scheduled to be present at FDIC Bahrain, including Al Jazeera Industrial Services, Almoayyed Safety and Industrial Centre, Pan Gulf Fire Protection and Safety Company and the Fire Safety Engineering College.
FDIC Bahrain will be presented and managed by US-Based PennWell Corporation and the Bahrain Convention and Exhibition Bureau (BCEB).
