Service Contract Boom For Airvent

As building owners, facilities managers and other responsible personnel begin to realise the importance of their obligations under the RRO (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005), more and more are turning to Airvent to ensure their building’s ongoing fire safety.
Recent client wins include a national service contract with the House of Fraser retail chain. In addition, Airvent has renewed national service contracts with Home Retail Group (Argos and Homebase), Focus (DIY) Ltd, TK Maxx, Matalan and Heathrow Airport.
Airvent’s service packages are designed to ensure that life safety systems within buildings such as shopping malls, office and apartment blocks, factories and transport hubs – which may never be called upon – are tested in line with RRO and product guidance, and are safely maintained to a standard which guarantees that if and when they are called on, they save lives.
The RRO replaces previous legislation and covers fire precautions and duties that are required to protect people in case of fire in and around most properties. It also introduces the principle of the “responsible person”: in a workplace this is the employer or any other person who may have control of any part of the premises. Previously it was not always possible to identify who was culpable if something went wrong - that has now changed.
Ian Doncaster, Fire Engineering Manager at Airvent, comments: "The tragic fire last summer at Lakanal House in Camberwell and recent reports concerning large retail fires highlight the disastrous outcome that fires do have and the importance of ensuring that efforts are made to comply with the RRO."
