Have you ever wondered how cable is made? If so, you will find a video introduction on the Draka website that takes you, step by step, through every stage of design, manufacturing and testing.

Simply log-on to www.drakauk.com and follow the Cable Making Process Tour link from the home page.

The professionally-produced video was made at Draka's Derby manufacturing plant where a wide variety of cables have been produced for 100 years. Today it utilises annually over 12,000 tonnes of copper and the site is widely acknowledged to be a world-class production facility. The video covers all of the key processes in cable making; from copper drawing and stranding to insulation, laying-up and fire barriers, and from armouring and sheathing to laboratory and fire testing.

"We will continue to host the successful factory tours at Derby that have now been running for some time," says Mark Froggatt, Marketing Services Manager. "But, with easy Internet access to our new video, specifiers, distributors and installers that are at a geographic disadvantage now also have the opportunity to see cable making 'from start to finish', plus the care and attention Draka puts into every metre of cable."

Draka UK is the country's leading designer and manufacturer of fire performance cables, zero halogen power cables and building wires. The company is part of Netherlands-based Draka Holdings NV, which has over 9,000 employees worldwide. Further details on all of the company's products are available by telephone on +44 (0) 1332 345431, by fax on +44 (0) 1332 331237, and via email at sales@draka.com.
