The standard of training delivered by the British Fire Consortium has been highly rated in a membership survey. The Consortium, the fire industry's largest trade association, commissioned the survey to more closely identify the requirements of its members and to help shape a continuing programme of improvement.

Chairman Colin Rhodes said, "I'm delighted to say that the survey showed that our membership is happy with the overall service we provide but, rather than remaining complacent, we are keen to continue to improve the provisions we make for our members and in particular the way we communicate with them and the industry in general."

The BFC's Training Officer, Ken Day, said, "Our members told us that our training provision was essential and to have it rated as good or very good by nearly every respondent was particularly pleasing. We have worked hard over the last couple of years to improve and put forward a comprehensive training programme, combining quality content and value for money for our members and other fire industry professionals."

The Consortium comprises around 250 independent fire companies who offer services such as extinguisher maintenance, alarm installation, fire risk assessments and staff training to all types of commercial, retail and public organisations. Courses are offered to members on extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency lighting, residential sprinklers, staff training and fire safety management. All courses, dates and fees are listed on the consortium's website at www.britishfireconsortium.org.uk alternatively call Ken Day on 01743 248045.
