Hochiki Europe this year used Firex to unveil a number of innovative new feature-packed fire detection and alarm products. They included: a new rapid-fix fire system cabling solution; a new fire detection and alarm system specially developed for HMOs [Houses in Multiple Occupation]; the latest addition to the company's FIRElink high-sensitivity smoke detection offering; a new loop-powered wall sounder with an integral beacon; a new single input module; and a manual call point that features an integral short-circuit isolator.

The new Smart-Fix+ rapid-fix fire system cabling solution is aimed at revolutionising the way in which fire detection systems are installed. Described By Hochiki as a "plug-and-play" system, it cuts installation costs, reduces waste, diminishes the need for site labour, improves site efficiency and accelerates construction programmes. The new system also drastically reduces the need for snagging, on-site testing and commissioning, as every Smart-Fix+ assembly is 100 percent factory tested.

Hochiki's new miniature fire detection and alarm system specially developed for HMOs allows tenants to manage their own potential and actual nuisance alarms. Called CHQ-HUSH, it is a fully-monitored, self-powered, single-zone fire alarm panel. It is addressed on an analogue addressable loop, with the ability to communicate its status to the building's main fire detection and alarm control panel. Its use, says Hochiki, will drastically cut the number of nuisance alarms and unnecessary evacuations from HMOs that have a proven tendency to lead to complacency among residents, with potentially life-threatening consequences.

The latest addition to the FIRElink high-sensitivity smoke detection offering is the FIRElink-Nano. Its introduction is expected to further expand the applications for the FIRElink range that include smaller non-compartmentalised rooms; warehouses with racking; and electronic and electromechanical equipment.

The new CHQ-WSB addressable loop-powered wall sounder has an integral beacon within the sounder's horn that has variable flash frequency using the latest high-intensity LED technology. The new CHQ-SIM single input module has been introduced to enable a single monitored input to be connected to Hochiki's ESP or Enhanced System Protocol loop. It is a compact, low-cost analogue addressable module that is designed for applications where the larger CHQ Smart Fix range of modules might be difficult to install.

Hochiki's new HCP-E(SCI) manual call point isolator is fully compatible with the company's analogue addressable Enhanced System Protocol. Its integral short-circuit isolator [SCI] maintains loop functions in the event of a short-circuit. It is LPCB [Loss Prevention Certification Board] approved to BS EN 54-11:2001 (Fire detection and fire alarm systems. Manual call points), and a weatherproof version - the Hochiki HCP-W(SCI) - has also been added to the range that provides enhanced IP67 ingress protection.

Hochiki Europe (UK) is headquartered in Gillingham, Kent, and has been active in the fire safety market since 1993, manufacturing intelligent and conventional detectors and ancillaries that are marketed throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa for commercial, industrial, marine and high-hazard applications. It is a subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Hochiki Corporation. Further information is available by telephone on +44 (0)1634 266 566, or via email at news@hochikieurope.com.
