Electronics Giant Chooses Hochiki Protection
Toshiba, one of the world's leading electronics innovators, opted for fire detection and alarm technology designed and manufactured by Hochiki Europe for the new custom-designed UK offices for Toshiba Electronics Europe, which is headquartered in Dusseldorf in Germany. The new three-storey Delta House in Farnborough, Hampshire - home to a number of Toshiba business units - is now protected by a variety of Hochiki products. These include smoke and heat sensors, audio-visual equipment and notification devices.
Commenting on his company's decision to select Hochiki, General Manager, Edward Schurch says: "We demand the highest quality fire detection and found that Hochiki has technical expertise that makes it one of the leaders in the UK." For example, exceptionally secure signalling is ensured thanks to the incorporation of full digital transmission. They also have error checking to safeguard the integrity of the data and ensure reliably correct communication, and high immunity from electrical noise, so there are no false alarms due to data corruption."
The smoke and heat sensors supplied for the Toshiba contract were from Hochiki's ESP or Enhanced System Protocol analogue addressable, open-protocol range of detection products. These incorporate a suite of false alarm management tools called ARM - which stands for Alarm Reduction Management - that includes Drift Compensation that, when activated by the control panel, automatically recalibrates the Hochiki sensors every 24 hours to further boost the immunity to false alarms throughout the building. The Hochiki smoke sensors feature the company's unique Flat Response high performance chamber technology that is built into all Hochiki optical sensors.
Hochiki Europe (UK) is headquartered in Gillingham, Kent, and has been active in the fire safety market since 1993. It is a subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Hochiki Corporation that this year celebrates 90 years in the fire safety business.
