Huddersfield Bakery Choose Detectomat's RCP 6B Wireless System
Hartley's Confectioners, a small bakery in Huddersfield chose detectomat's RCP 6B Wireless detect, wire free detection system when a visit from the local Fire Authority required them to replace rather than repair or extend their existing inadequate system.
Recognising the inconvenience of installing a hard-wired system for a business, which operates from early morning 7 days a week including the general disruption, mess and dust generated, particularly in a food preparation, persuaded Hartley's management that a wire free solution would have to be sought. And following consideration of various alternative products, Jason Hartley chose detectomat's system, supplied and installed by Firetec systems.
The detectomat RCP 6B system includes optical smoke detectors with integral sounders, break-glass call points and heat detectors. The system was recommended by suppliers Firetec because it can be programmed and installed within 3 hours resulting in minimal disruption to the business. The system does not require the installation of separate sounder circuits because all the detectors have integral sounders. In a small premises this is particularly useful because there is no need for wiring which means fast installation and little damage to the fabric of the building or to decoration.
Jason Hartley was pleased with the financial savings. As there was no need for cabling, labour costs were minimal and little or no cleaning of the premises was necessary but, most significantly, there was no loss to business from interruption or disruption of production. There is potential for replication in Hartley's other outlets. Indeed, detectomat's RCP 6B system is ideal for any business where disruption would be expensive and/or commercially inconvenient, including HMOs, retail premises and tourist accommodation.
The suppliers, Firetec were selected due to a combination of their longstanding reputation for an ability to design systems which meet fire authority regulations and their experience of the regulations compared to similar suppliers. Firetec also offers 24 hour telephone support and quarterly service visits in accordance with British Standards.
