Building owners and fire protection specifiers can conform to recognised fire safety standards by using a BAFE registered company

BRACKNELL, England, 30th October 2007: Honeywell (NYSE:HON) Building Solutions (HBS) today announced that it has attained national approval for BAFE SP203 (British Approvals for Fire Equipment). The company is the 100th business to gain BAFE registration from the third party certification body; NSI (National Security Inspectorate).

In today's demanding environment, there is an increasing responsibility for building owners to ensure the safety of the building's occupants. Recent changes to legislation and the requirements of risk assessments mean it is vital that fire protection systems are 'fit for purpose' and installed and maintained by a 'competent' person.

As a BAFE SP203 certified company, HBS has demonstrated that its services conform to these recognised industry standards and meet the expectations of local fire safety authorities and insurance agents. Therefore, building owners that use a registered BAFE company can verify that they have taken due care and under the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations (1997) and they have taken the necessary steps to protect people within their building from the risk of fire.

Specifiers of fire protection solutions and services can also be assured that by using a BAFE accredited company such as HBS, their projects will comply with these standards.

'The accreditation is certified recognition that all areas of our work and procedures maintain a high level of compliance and knowledge of current standards, says HBS Regional General Manager, Andrew Nunn. 'All our employees receive ongoing training and support to ensure these standards are upheld, which we in turn can pass onto our customers'

To fulfil BAFE's requirements, HBS also demonstrated that it's systems designers and engineers are working with customers to proactively reduce false alarms.
