The Fire Strategy Company (FSC) is conducting a series of one-day training courses around the UK this Autumn - namely Fire Safety Management; Fire Risk Assessment; An Introduction to Fire Engineering; and Business Continuity Management. Training is delivered by seasoned fire industry experts with a wealth of hands-on experience. All give an overview of the latest guidance documents and fire industry standards.

Russ Timpson, a UK-recognised expert in fire safety and founder of FSC, will be delivering Fire Safety Management and Fire Risk assessment courses.

Following seven years in the fire service, FSC's Principal Fire Engineer Russ was formerly Group Fire Strategy Manager for BAA, and also Head of Safety for Virgin Atlantic Airways. Russ's courses look at the legal background of fire safety management and the requirements of new fire legislation, and include a 'walk through' fire risk assessment with a serving fire officer.

An Introduction to Fire Engineering is given by chartered fire engineer Jim Golt. Jim has spent 28 years with the London Fire Brigade, latterly heading a consultancy team in the field of fire investigation, fire research and fire engineering. This course aims to give an insight into fire engineering, including the process of a qualitative design review, fire strategy development and computer modelling.

FSC's Business Continuity Management is a new course which starts by looking at the common failures that lead to crisis in organisations. Business continuity options are then explored and business impact analysis.considered, followed by the development and implementation of a planned response to crisis. Finally, effective insurance liaison to capture commercial benefits from the process is covered. The course is conducted by disaster recovery expert Anthony Taylor, who has a wide range of experience in risk management disciplines and insurance procurement.
