Understanding the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: Seminar

Mid Career College is hosting a number of fire safety seminars throughout the UK during 2007. The seminars explain the background of the new legislation, the implication for anyone with responsibility for people and buildings and how to ensure compliance.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into force on 1st October 2006 and makes significant changes to Fire Safety Legislation. The Order brings in the new role of 'Responsible Person', repeals a number of important Acts and replaces them with new requirements.

The new legislation supersedes much of the existing fire safety legislation, for example, fire certificates are no longer valid.
The new role of the responsible person is examined in detail in the seminars with the duties explained. These include undertaking and documenting a Fire Risk Assessment to determine suitable measures to ensure means of escape, fire detection and warning, emergency lighting, signage and provision of fire fighting equipment.
In addition the Regulatory Reform Order imposes many managerial duties.
